FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Unsure about how we work? We have gathered the most common questions for your convenience.

Absolutely. Rent is likely to be one of your business’s highest costs, and a commercial lease is a high-value contract that can last for years. What’s more, the landlord will often have legal advice of their own.

It’s usually prudent to pay a one-off cost for a legal team to review your commercial lease so you’re set up properly. This extra preparation can save you stress and further costs down the line.

We also offer commercial lease drafting for commercial landlords. We can help you work out whether a premises licence or a commercial lease is better suited to your situation.

And rest assured, we will never act for both the tenant and the corresponding landlord in relation to the same contract.

Submit an enquiry via this page or click the ‘get started’ button on our website. After you submit your enquiry, one of our legal consultants will review it within 1 business day and get in touch to better understand what you’re looking for.

Your legal consultant will then send you an email with more information about the services you need, along with a fixed-fee quote setting out the costs, scope of the service, and timing. If you’re happy with it, you can accept and sign our engagement letter online.

Once you’ve formally accepted, we’ll connect you with a specialist lawyer who will work with you to complete your project. They’ll contact you by email or phone if needed.

Our legal team is made up of experienced lawyers who specialise in various areas of law and hold Australian legal practising certificates. None of our Sprintlaw lawyers are New Zealand qualified lawyers, and they do not currently hold New Zealand practising certificates.

They provide legal services remotely from Australia through our ‘legal consultancy’ model. Under section 6 and section 35 of the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006, our Australian legal team are permitted to provide legal services to New Zealand businesses, provided they do not provide services in certain ‘reserved’ areas of law.

You can read our FAQ page to learn more about our ‘legal consultancy’ model. Given the strong similarities between Australian and New Zealand law, and the areas of law in which we practise, being small business and startup law, we do not view the fact that our lawyers have not qualified in New Zealand as having any substantive impact on the quality of our service.

We are committed to providing high quality, affordable legal services to all our New Zealand clients. Our legal team have all trained at leading firms, but left the traditional corporate law world to join us in creating a new and better way of delivering legal services. They have specialist expertise in technology law, intellectual property law, contract drafting and review, corporate law, and commercial law.
