A complaints handling policy is crucial for fintech businesses to effectively manage customer issues, comply with regulatory standards, and show a commitment to transparency and fairness. In New Zealand's competitive fintech landscape, having a clear policy helps protect your business's reputation and ensures you are prepared to address any disputes that may arise. This proactive approach can enhance customer trust and loyalty, which are vital for long-term success.
Fintech businesses operate under unique regulatory, privacy, and technological frameworks that require specialized attention. Unlike standard policies, a fintech complaints handling policy must address sector-specific requirements, such as digital service delivery and data protection. Our service ensures your policy aligns with the fast-paced nature of the fintech industry and meets customer expectations, helping you navigate the complex compliance landscape effectively.
Absolutely. A well-crafted complaints handling policy is an essential tool for demonstrating compliance with industry codes of conduct, privacy regulations, and other relevant guidelines. It outlines a clear process for managing complaints, which is often a requirement from partners, investors, and regulators. By having a robust policy in place, your business can show its commitment to regulatory standards and enhance its credibility in the fintech sector.
The process begins with a consultation to understand your business model and existing processes. Following this, we draft a policy tailored to your specific needs, ensuring it aligns with industry standards and your operational goals. We provide practical guidance for implementation and include one round of revisions to ensure the final document is effective and comprehensive. This collaborative approach ensures your policy is both practical and compliant.
As your business expands, it's important to regularly review and update your complaints handling policy to reflect changes in products, regulations, or customer expectations. We offer support in making these updates and can advise on best practices to ensure your policy remains relevant and effective. Staying proactive in policy management helps your business adapt to growth and maintain compliance in a dynamic market environment.

After you enquire, a legal consultant will confirm what is included, the expected timing and whether any extra work is needed before you engage us.
We operate completely online, which means we can help you wherever you are in New Zealand. We have office spaces in Sydney, and in Melbourne, but our use of technology allows our team members to work remotely from around the world. Our legal team are mostly based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. We also have a London office for Sprintlaw UK.
Our legal team is made up of experienced lawyers, who are specialists in various areas of law and hold an Australian legal practising certificate. None of our Sprintlaw lawyers are New Zealand qualified lawyers and they do not currently hold a New Zealand practising certificate.
They provide legal services working remotely from Australia via our 'legal consultancy' model, through which (under section 6 and section 35 of the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006) our Australian legal team are permitted to provide legal services to New Zealand businesses provided they do not provide services in certain 'reserved' areas of law. You can read our FAQ page to learn a bit more about our 'legal consultancy' model.
Given the strong similarities between Australian and New Zealand law, and the areas of law in which we practice (being small business and startup law), we do not view the fact that our lawyers have not qualified in New Zealand as having any substantive impact on the quality of our service. We are committed to ensuring that we provide high quality, affordable legal services to all our New Zealand clients.
Our legal team have all trained at leading firms, but have left the traditional corporate law world to join us on our mission to create a new and better way of delivering legal services. They have specialist expertise in technology law, intellectual property law, contract drafting and review, corporate law and commercial law.
