Unsure about how we work? We have gathered the most common questions for your convenience.
Financial promotions often combine product claims, pricing statements, eligibility messaging, disclaimers, and sign-up prompts in a way that can create legal risk if the wording is unclear or overstated. For fintech and payments businesses, even small phrases about benefits, speed, savings, approval, or account features can matter. A review helps identify where customer-facing statements may need stronger qualification, clearer disclosure, or closer alignment with how the product actually works. It is particularly useful before launching a campaign, updating a website, or rolling out a new offer.
We can review a range of customer-facing promotional materials, up to the stated limit of 3 promotions or campaigns. That may include website pages, app store copy, landing pages, email campaigns, paid ads, social posts, sign-up flows, or promotional banners tied to a financial product or service. The key point is that the review is document-led and based on the materials you provide. If your campaign spans many assets or multiple versions, we can help you decide which pieces should be prioritised within the fixed-fee.
We can give legal feedback on risk areas, wording issues, and where stronger disclosure or changes may be sensible, but we cannot promise that a promotion will be compliant in every scenario. The service helps you We will make the key issues clear so you can decide what to do next. That is partly because the legal analysis may depend on facts outside the document itself, including how the offer is delivered, what customers are told elsewhere, and For Financial Promotions Review, the wording should follow your real information flows. For Financial Promotions Review, collection points and disclosure practices shape the drafting. information in practice.
Usually not. A generic disclaimer may miss the real issue if the main promotional message is too broad, too absolute, or inconsistent with the customer journey. In many cases, the better approach is to review the headline claims, qualifications, pricing presentation, eligibility wording, and sign-up flow together. The right drafting and advice depend on how your business actually operates and how the promotion is shown to customers. We can flag where a standard disclaimer may be insufficient and where the underlying wording itself should change.
You will receive written feedback identifying key legal risk points and suggested changes, followed by a 30-minute call to talk through the recommendations. Some businesses use that advice internally to update their campaign copy, while others ask for further help with revised wording or related documents. If extra work is needed, such as redrafting promotions, reviewing updated versions, or looking at linked customer terms, we can scope that separately. The initial review is intended to give you a clear basis for the next drafting or approval step.

We operate completely online, which means we can help you wherever you are in New Zealand. We have office spaces in Sydney, and in Melbourne, but our use of technology allows our team members to work remotely from around the world. Our legal team are mostly based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. We also have a London office for Sprintlaw UK.
Our legal team is made up of experienced lawyers, who are specialists in various areas of law and hold an Australian legal practising certificate. None of our Sprintlaw lawyers are New Zealand qualified lawyers and they do not currently hold a New Zealand practising certificate.
They provide legal services working remotely from Australia via our 'legal consultancy' model, through which (under section 6 and section 35 of the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006) our Australian legal team are permitted to provide legal services to New Zealand businesses provided they do not provide services in certain 'reserved' areas of law. You can read our FAQ page to learn a bit more about our 'legal consultancy' model.
Given the strong similarities between Australian and New Zealand law, and the areas of law in which we practice (being small business and startup law), we do not view the fact that our lawyers have not qualified in New Zealand as having any substantive impact on the quality of our service. We are committed to ensuring that we provide high quality, affordable legal services to all our New Zealand clients.
Our legal team have all trained at leading firms, but have left the traditional corporate law world to join us on our mission to create a new and better way of delivering legal services. They have specialist expertise in technology law, intellectual property law, contract drafting and review, corporate law and commercial law.
