FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Unsure about how we work? We have gathered the most common questions for your convenience.

The answer depends on what you are actually trying to get done with the content. Some deals only allow a brand to repost content on its own channels, while others extend to paid ads, website use, retailer use, edits, whitelisting, or longer-term campaign reuse. The licence needs to match that intended use. We help map the commercial arrangement into legal terms, including what content is covered, how long the rights last, whether approval is needed before reuse, and what happens if the campaign changes after signing.

That usually turns on the scope of the campaign and the rights being discussed. Useful details include who the parties are, what content is being created or already exists, which platforms are involved, whether the brand wants organic use only or paid media rights too, the proposed term and territory, any exclusivity period, and whether edits, sublicensing, or retailer use are expected. If someone has already circulated a draft, side letter, or campaign brief, sharing that early helps us spot gaps between the commercial deal and the legal wording.

Most problems arise when the parties assume everyone means the same thing by "use". A licence may need to separate organic reposting from paid advertising, define whether the brand can crop or edit content, deal with approval rights over captions or context, and clarify whether raw files, stills, or behind-the-scenes footage are included. It can also be important to address ownership of the underlying content, moral rights consents where relevant, exclusivity, takedown situations, and what happens when the licence period ends but content is still live online.

No. We can help with the legal paperwork and the wording around approvals, disclosures, and content use rights, but regulator approval and third-party decisions are outside the fixed-fee. Approval depends on the relevant regulator or authority, and If regulator or authority requirements affect your matter, we will talk you through the practical next steps.. Platform settings, ad account permissions, and campaign acceptance by a publisher or marketplace are also not something Sprintlaw controls. If those issues are likely to affect launch timing, we can help reflect that risk in the licence wording.

Yes. If you already have a draft from a brand, agency, manager, or influencer, we can review it and explain where the legal and commercial risk sits. That might include broad usage rights, unclear approval mechanics, weak payment wording, missing exclusivity limits, or a licence that allows reuse well beyond the campaign everyone thought they were agreeing to. If the draft is workable, we can suggest targeted amendments. If it is too far from the intended deal, we may recommend a fresh licence instead.
