Frequently asked questions
Unsure about how we work? We have gathered the most common questions for your convenience.
A generic notice can fall short when your business uses sign-up forms, customer accounts, analytics tools, payment providers, marketing platforms, support software or third-party integrations. A tailored privacy policy is usually worthwhile when your website or service collects more than basic contact details, or when information moves between multiple systems. A useful version should be based on your real data practices, not just a generic list of privacy clauses, so the wording needs to match what really happens behind the scenes. If the policy says one thing and your operations do another, that gap can create risk.
It will usually cover what personal information you collect, how you collect it, why you use it, when it may be disclosed, whether overseas providers are involved, and how people can request access or correction. Depending on your setup, it may also address website forms, account creation, marketing communications, cookies or tracking tools, and customer support channels. The aim is not to produce generic wording, but a policy that reflects the practical way your business handles information across its public-facing touchpoints.
We usually need a practical summary of your data flows rather than technical legal language. That can include what information you collect from customers or users, where it comes from, which software tools you use, who you share it with, and whether you store or process information through third-party providers. If you run an ecommerce site, app or SaaS product, we may also ask about account features, marketing tools and support workflows. The more accurate that picture is, the more accurate the final policy will be.
You can, but templates are often written at a very high level and may not match the way your business actually operates. They can miss important disclosures about third-party tools, overseas service providers, customer communications or platform-specific data collection. That matters because this service helps you assess and reduce risk, but it helps you make informed decisions without making promises about third-party outcomes in every scenario. A policy is only useful if it lines up with your real practices. If your business model is more than a simple brochure website, a template may leave obvious gaps.
No. This page is for the privacy policy document itself, whether that means drafting a new one or reviewing an existing version. Broader privacy compliance work, such as internal procedures, staff training, breach response planning, technical implementation, vendor assessments or security remediation, is outside the fixed-fee. If your business needs help beyond the published policy, that can be discussed separately. For many businesses, the privacy policy is one important part of the picture, but it is not the whole privacy compliance framework.

Sprintlaw works on fixed-fee pricing wherever possible, so you can review the scope and cost before you decide whether to proceed. For the Privacy Policy Trustrank service, pricing starts from $900.00.
After you enquire, a legal consultant will confirm what is included, the expected timing and whether any extra work is needed before you engage us.
We operate completely online, which means we can help you wherever you are in New Zealand. We have office spaces in Sydney, and in Melbourne, but our use of technology allows our team members to work remotely from around the world. Our legal team are mostly based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. We also have a London office for Sprintlaw UK.
Our legal team is made up of experienced lawyers, who are specialists in various areas of law and hold an Australian legal practising certificate. None of our Sprintlaw lawyers are New Zealand qualified lawyers and they do not currently hold a New Zealand practising certificate.
They provide legal services working remotely from Australia via our 'legal consultancy' model, through which (under section 6 and section 35 of the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006) our Australian legal team are permitted to provide legal services to New Zealand businesses provided they do not provide services in certain 'reserved' areas of law. You can read our FAQ page to learn a bit more about our 'legal consultancy' model.
Given the strong similarities between Australian and New Zealand law, and the areas of law in which we practice (being small business and startup law), we do not view the fact that our lawyers have not qualified in New Zealand as having any substantive impact on the quality of our service. We are committed to ensuring that we provide high quality, affordable legal services to all our New Zealand clients.
Our legal team have all trained at leading firms, but have left the traditional corporate law world to join us on our mission to create a new and better way of delivering legal services. They have specialist expertise in technology law, intellectual property law, contract drafting and review, corporate law and commercial law.
