Unsure about how we work? We have gathered the most common questions for your convenience.
Because campaign problems often appear after everyone thinks the basics are settled. A short email chain might mention fees and posts, but leave uncertainty around approval rights, revision limits, exclusivity, usage rights, paid amplification, disclosure wording, cancellation and what happens if content underperforms or is posted late. A proper agreement turns the campaign plan into a usable contract. That is especially helpful where a brand, agency and creator all have different expectations about who controls the content and how long it can be reused.
It will usually deal with the campaign scope, content deliverables, posting dates, approval workflow, payment timing, ad spend arrangements if relevant, ownership or licensing of content, brand guidelines, disclosure obligations, reporting expectations, confidentiality, termination and liability wording. Some campaigns also need clauses about exclusivity, reshoots, platform-specific requirements or whether the brand can edit and repost the content. The right mix depends on the campaign structure, the platforms involved and whether the creator is producing content only or also managing paid promotion.
Useful details include who the parties are, what content is being created, which platforms are involved, whether there are approval stages, how payment works, whether ad spend is being reimbursed or controlled by one party, and what rights are needed to reuse the content after the campaign. It also helps to know whether personal information, audience data or campaign analytics will be shared. The legal position can depend on how the business handles information in practice, so the drafting should reflect the real workflow rather than a high-level summary.
Sometimes a template can be a starting point for a very simple one-off collaboration, but it often falls short once the campaign includes multiple deliverables, approval rounds, paid media usage, exclusivity, agency involvement or detailed brand rules. Templates also tend to be vague on ownership versus licence rights, which is one of the most common pressure points in creator campaigns. A tailored agreement is usually more useful where the content may be repurposed across channels, boosted as ads or tied to specific compliance expectations and reporting obligations.
After you provide the campaign details, a lawyer will prepare the agreement or review your existing draft and raise any points that need clarification. You will then be able to comment on the wording and request the included amendments. Timing depends on the complexity of the campaign, how many parties are involved and whether the commercial terms are already settled.
Scope note: requirements can differ for Influencer Campaign Agreement depending on the authority involved. The fixed-fee covers the stated legal work, but approval and third-party decisions sit outside Sprintlaw's control.

We operate completely online, which means we can help you wherever you are in New Zealand. We have office spaces in Sydney, and in Melbourne, but our use of technology allows our team members to work remotely from around the world. Our legal team are mostly based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. We also have a London office for Sprintlaw UK.
Our legal team is made up of experienced lawyers, who are specialists in various areas of law and hold an Australian legal practising certificate. None of our Sprintlaw lawyers are New Zealand qualified lawyers and they do not currently hold a New Zealand practising certificate.
They provide legal services working remotely from Australia via our 'legal consultancy' model, through which (under section 6 and section 35 of the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006) our Australian legal team are permitted to provide legal services to New Zealand businesses provided they do not provide services in certain 'reserved' areas of law. You can read our FAQ page to learn a bit more about our 'legal consultancy' model.
Given the strong similarities between Australian and New Zealand law, and the areas of law in which we practice (being small business and startup law), we do not view the fact that our lawyers have not qualified in New Zealand as having any substantive impact on the quality of our service. We are committed to ensuring that we provide high quality, affordable legal services to all our New Zealand clients.
Our legal team have all trained at leading firms, but have left the traditional corporate law world to join us on our mission to create a new and better way of delivering legal services. They have specialist expertise in technology law, intellectual property law, contract drafting and review, corporate law and commercial law.
