The Consumer Guarantees Act sets out principles, minimum standards, and rights for consumers of goods and services in New Zealand. If you sell goods or services, it will apply to your business, and you must comply with it or risk being fined.

Your business should also comply with other trading regulations, such as the Fair Trading Act. For example, the Fair Trading Act says it is an offence to include an unfair contract term in your customer contracts.
